Daily Bread: Ask God for Wisdom | Gifts from God | Daily Devotionals

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
-James 1:5-8

God wants to give freely, all that He has that will improve our quality of life.  This includes wisdom.  There may be a number of reasons one may seek wisdom.  Whether it be choosing the right career path, choosing a mate, moving to a new location or discovering personal life Purpose.  There will be none better to ask than the one that knows all things.
Since we have free will and God respects His laws of free will, we have to ask.  God deals with us like a gentleman man, albeit He is the most powerful force in the universe because he created it.  He still wants us to choose to seek Him.
One of my favorite passages in the bible is the story of Daniel and his 10 day fast at king Nebuchadnezzar's palace.

19 And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king.
20 And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.     -Daniel 1:19, 20

King Nebuchadnezzar was seeking the smartest of children to serve in his palace.  Daniel put in a request to turn down the kings meat and wine and have pulse and water instead.  Pulse, today translates to legumes, and beans but this may have been something different during that time.  After the 10 days the Lord blessed them with wisdom far beyond any others that stood before the king.
Daniel fasting for wisdom lead to a larger purpose for his presence at the palace.  God gave Daniel wisdom to provide the king with insight into his future.

I believe God is rooting for us.  He may not always step in the way we feel He should but He loves us and wants us to win.
I challenge you to pray and possibly even fast and consult God about an area in which you need insight.  Find out what His plans are for your life.

39 Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.
40 Let all things be done decently and in order.
- 1 Corinthians 14:39,40
