The great red dragon leaned in close to the princess, its fiery eyes burning like twin suns. “You have courage, girl,” it rumbled, smoke curling from its nostrils.

The princess tightened her grip on her sword. “And you have been hiding the kingdom’s gold. This ends now!”

A deep, rumbling chuckle shook the cave walls. “Foolish girl. The treasure you seek is not gold”... 

The dragon lowered its massive head until its breath brushed her cheek. “It is the truth your family is keeping from you.”

The princess’ heart pounded. The truth?

The dragon’s voice softened to a whisper. “You are not here to slay me, child. You are here to awaken.”
